2-(3-(Carboxymethyl)-4-(phenylthio)-phenyl)propanoic Acid is a synthetic compound that belongs to the group of propiophenones. It has a fluorescent property and can be used as a starting material for the synthesis of other compounds. 2-(3-(Carboxymethyl)-4-(phenylthio)-phenyl)propanoic Acid is made by the Friedel-Crafts reaction between an aromatic hydrocarbon and primary alcohol. Crystal x-ray diffraction analysis showed that nitrogen atoms are present in 2-(3-(Carboxymethyl)-4-(phenylthio)-phenyl)propanoic Acid, which may be due to its supramolecular structure. The reaction system was analyzed by proton NMR spectroscopy and found to contain hydrocarbon groups.
