Description:

5,5',5''-[1,3,5-Benzenetriyltris(4,4'-biphenylylene)]tris(1,3-benzenedicarboxylic acid) is a fluorescence marker with the ability to detect 5-HT levels in the brain. This compound can be synthesized by polymerization of 4,4'-diphenylethylene and 1,3-benzenedicarboxylic acid. The synthesis method is based on the oxidation of 4,4'-diphenylethylene with potassium permanganate followed by treatment with hydrochloric acid. The emission spectrum for this molecule is in the range of 480 nm to 500 nm.
