2-(3-(Diisopropylamino)-1-phenylpropyl)-4-formylphenyl isobutyrate (DAPIB) is an impurity in the API, Amoxil. It is a metabolite of amoxicillin that has been shown to have antibacterial activity and may be useful as a lead compound for drug discovery. DAPIB can be synthesized from 2-amino-2-methylpropane and phenylacetic acid or it can be extracted from the leaves of Eugenia uniflora. DAPIB is soluble in acetone, chloroform, ethanol, diethylether and methanol but not water. This product is not for human use.
