Product Information
5-Methylpyridazine-3-carbonitrile is a regioselective, efficient synthesis of 5-methylpyridazine and carbonitrile. The reaction is carried out with trimethylsilyl chloride as the chlorinating agent in the presence of a catalytic amount of cyanide. This reaction affords the desired product in high yield. The regioselectivity is due to the attack by the nucleophilic methyl group on the electrophilic carbon at position 3 of pyridazine.
