Product Information
6-Methyl-9H-pyrido[2,3-b]indole is a prenylated indole that has been shown to inhibit cancer cell growth. It is an inhibitor of the enzyme aromatase, which converts androgens to estrogens. 6-Methyl-9H-pyrido[2,3-b]indole has been shown to cause apoptosis in estrogen receptor positive breast cancer cells by inhibiting the synthesis of phytoalexins, which are antimicrobial molecules made by plants in response to injury or infection. 6-Methyl-9H-pyrido[2,3-b]indole also inhibits other enzymes such as intestinal lipases and prenyltransferases. This molecule is used as a synthetic precursor for bioactive natural products like ursolic acid.
