2-(4-Benzyl-4,5-dihydro-oxazol-2-yl)-pyridine is a ligand that can bind to chloride and hydroxide ions. It has been shown to be effective against ovarian cancer cells in vitro. 2-(4-Benzyl-4,5-dihydro-oxazol-2-yl)-pyridine has also been shown to inhibit the production of tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNFα) and serum enzymes such as dismutase activity in mice with lung cancer. The pharmacological nature of 2-(4-Benzyl-4,5-dihydro-oxazol-2-yl)-pyridine has not yet been determined, but it may be due to its ability to bind metal ions.
