8-Fluoro-2,2-dimethyl-9-(4-methyl-1-piperazinyl)-6-oxo-2H,6H-oxazolo[5,4,3-ij]quinoline-5-carboxylic acid is a synthetic drug product. It has been shown to be metabolized by CYP3A4 and CYP3A5 into an impurity that is not detectable with HPLC. 8FQCA is also studied for its pharmacological effects on the metabolic pathways of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADPH) oxidase and cyclooxygenase 2 (COX2).
