The compound is used as a catalyst for polymerization reactions, electrochemical oxidation reactions, and coordination reactions. 4-([2,2':6',2''-Terpyridin]-4'-yl)benzoic Acid has been found to have magnetic properties. It can be catalyzed by copper to form an organometallic complex. This interaction is due to the polydentate nature of the pyridine ring and its ability to coordinate with the metal ion.
