N2-[1-[N-[N-[N-(N2-acetyl-L-arginyl)-L-cysteinyl]glycyl]-L-valyl]-L-prolyl]-L-α-asparagine (NTX) is a neurotrophic factor that has been shown to activate cancer cells and inhibit apoptosis. NTX interacts with the cell surface receptor TrkA, which activates the intracellular signaling pathway. This molecule has shown antiapoptotic effects in cardiac and neuronal cells. NTX is also a leukotriene receptor antagonist, which prevents the binding of leukotriene A4 to its receptor, and inhibits metalloproteases such as matrix MMP9 and chemoattractant protein of tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNFα). NTX is synthesized by an asymmetric synthesis reaction, which involves two molecules of L-serine. NTX may be used as a model system for studying
