Description:

Methyl 6-amino-5-chloro-2-cyclopropyl-4-pyrimidinecarboxylate (MCPA) is an analytical reagent that is used as a synthetic precursor to agriculturally useful pyridine compounds. It has been shown to inhibit the transport of ammonium nitrate in plants, and can be used to study the effects of pesticides on plant tissue. MCPA is also used in analytical chemistry as a mass spectrometric standard for calibrating instruments that measure the amount of primary amino groups in organic compounds. It has been validated as an analytical method for determining pesticide residues in kidney beans.
