Description:

Butyltrimethylammonium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide (BTMF) is a strong base that is used in organic synthesis as an electrophile. It reacts with halides and copper complexes to form transfer reactions, including the formation of crystalline structures. The reaction mechanism for BTMF is still unclear, but it is believed to involve a nucleophilic attack by the nitrogen atom on the carbon atom adjacent to the sulfur atom. This results in an aromatic hydrocarbon and a compound with nitrogen atoms. BTMF has a high viscosity when dissolved in water and also has high thermal expansion properties.
