It is an impurity standard for the analytical determination of 2-[(S)-2-methyl-1-(1-oxopropoxy)propoxy](4-phenylbutyl)phosphinic acid in both drug products and in synthetic intermediates. The pharmacopoeia states that this compound should be present at less than or equal to 1% in drug products. This metabolite has been shown to have antiinflammatory activity.
