NBD-557 is a monoclonal antibody that binds to the HIV receptor and prevents the virus from entering cells. It has been shown to bind to both CD4 and CXCR4 receptors, which are the main receptors for HIV. NBD-557 has been used in analytical chemistry as a fluorescent probe for monitoring viral infection. The binding of NBD-557 to viruses has been shown using polymerase chain reaction (PCR) techniques. In addition, NBD-557 has also been shown to bind with fatty acids in the cell membrane, suggesting that it may have therapeutic potential in metabolic disorders such as obesity.
