Product Information
1-Amino-3-fluorocyclobutane-1-carboxylic acid (1AFCC) is a novel radioprotective agent that has been shown to protect against radiation damage in tumor cells. It prevents DNA damage by binding with the aldehyde groups on the DNA backbone, thereby preventing the formation of reactive oxygen species and stabilizing the DNA. 1AFCC also inhibits glucose uptake and enhances glucose oxidation in cancer cells, making it a potential treatment for cancer patients. 1AFCC has been shown to inhibit polymerase chain reaction (PCR) amplification of messenger RNA in prostate cancer cells as well as glioma patients, which may be due to its ability to block transcription of mRNA from genes encoding proteins involved in cell proliferation.
