Product Information
1-Allyl-3-(4-phenoxyphenyl)thiourea (APT) is an antibacterial agent that has been shown to be effective against Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Mycobacterium avium. It is a potent inhibitor of the enzyme DNA gyrase, which is involved in maintaining the integrity of bacterial DNA. APT has also been shown to have anti-tuberculosis activity by inhibiting the synthesis of RNA and protein. This antibiotic has been evaluated for its ability to inhibit drug resistant strains of M. tuberculosis and M. avium, but it does not seem to be as effective as other antibiotics such as ethambutol or amikacin.
