Product Information
Cathepsin D is a protease that is present in the lysosomes of many types of cells. It has been shown to be involved in the pathogenesis of bowel disease, including ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease. Cathepsin D has inhibitory properties against other proteases, such as cathepsins L and B, and can be used as a model system to study the molecular pathogenesis of cancer tissues. Cathepsin D binds to the dna template and cleaves peptide bonds during transcription. Cathepsin D also inhibits p-nitrophenyl phosphate production by acting on the enzyme phosphatase 2A, which leads to cancerous cell death.
