Clothianidin-urea is a synthetic, broad-spectrum antibiotic with both anti-microbial and antiviral properties. It is active against Gram-positive bacteria, such as Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pneumoniae and Enterococcus faecalis; Gram-negative bacteria, such as Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Escherichia coli and Salmonella typhi; fungi, such as Candida albicans and Cryptococcus neoformans; parasites, such as Plasmodium falciparum and Toxoplasma gondii; and viruses, such as human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) and herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2). Clothianidin-urea is used in chemotherapy for the treatment of cancer.
