Product Information
TBPB is a new drug candidate that has been shown to be highly active against human pathogens. It also has a side-effect profile that is similar to current nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, and it does not inhibit the uptake of iron by red blood cells. TBPB binds to the cell membrane of bacteria, which can lead to the death of the organism. TBPB binds to human protein genes, which may lead to an antibody response if the molecule enters the bloodstream. This drug also shows high binding affinity for heme proteins and is effective against wild-type strains. TBPB is a molecule with high molecular weight (1,000 kDa) and low water solubility (0.01 mg/mL). Titration calorimetry studies have shown that TBPB has high binding affinity for iron ions in human serum.
