Product Information
Diazo biotin-alkyne is a cytosolic protein synthesis inhibitor that binds to the amino acid cysteine. It has been shown to inhibit protein synthesis in murine erythrocytes and human lymphocytes. This drug inhibits the synthesis of proteins in the cytoskeleton, which is essential for cell division. Diazo biotin-alkyne binds to the sulfhydryl group of cysteine through an alkyne group, preventing it from participating in a reaction that leads to protein synthesis. The azido-homoalanine derivative minimizes labeling with fluorescein and can be used as a control in experiments involving unlabeled diazo biotin-alkyne.
