Product Information
Dodecylamine hydroiodide is an organic solvent that has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria in a model system. Dodecylamine hydroiodide inhibits the growth of bacteria by forming a complex with the metal ion and causing the formation of insoluble metal halides. The reaction products are then able to react with water or acid, which leads to the release of hydrogen ions and the production of a peroxide-type compound. This compound can further react with oxygen, leading to oxidative damage to cells and cell membranes. Dodecylamine hydroiodide also has been shown to have ferroelectric properties when mixed with certain metal salts.
