Description:

1-Methoxypyrene is a test compound that has been used to measure the detection sensitivity of the analytical instrumentation. It is a carbon source for microbial biotransformation, and it can be used in biological treatment. 1-Methoxypyrene is also an aromatic hydrocarbon that has been shown to be metabolized by catechol-o-methyltransferase (COMT) from filamentous fungi. This reaction produces four products: 2,3-dihydroxybenzoic acid, 4-hydroxymethylphenylacetate, 3,4-dihydroxyphenylacetic acid, and 3-hydroxybenzoic acid. 1-Methoxypyrene can also undergo acetylation reactions with acetyl coenzyme A (acetyl CoA) to produce 4-(2'-hydroxyethyl)-1-methoxycyclohexane carboxylic acid.
