N-Tetracosanoyl-phytosphingosine is a synthetic molecule that is soluble in alkaline solutions. It can be hydrolyzed at temperatures above 100°C and reacts with hydrogen ions in an alkaline environment. N-Tetracosanoyl-phytosphingosine interacts with fatty acids, carbonyls, amides, and sodium periodate. It has been shown to form a monolayer on the surface of phospholipid bilayers and has been detected as a chromatographic peak between 16:00 and 18:00 hours. This molecule also contains an alpha carbon atom.
