The compound is prepared by reacting aminopropyl chloride with trichloromethanesulfonyl chloride. 2,3,4-Trichlorobenzenesulfonyl chloride has an ionic nature and can be used to separate ionic compounds. It also has a high selectivity for chlorides and can be used as a reagent for adsorption or reversed-phase HPLC.
