Description:

3-Aminoquinoxaline-2-thiol is an organic compound that is used as a fluoroquinolone antibiotic. It can be synthesized by treating 3-aminopyridine with ethyl chloroformate, followed by bromination. The resulting product can then be reacted with thiosalicylic acid to form the desired product. Quinoxaline has been shown to have antibacterial properties, and is able to inhibit bacterial growth through inhibition of DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV. Quinoxaline also has a high affinity for proteins and is easily transported across the cell membrane, making it a viable option for drug delivery systems.
