Product Information
11-(Methacryloylamino)undecanoic acid is a fluorescent anion that can be used for the determination of the charge-to-mass ratio of polymer micelles. The technique is based on the principle that when a cation is introduced into a micelle, it disrupts the fluorescence of the micelle. The fluorescence intensity decreases as more cations are added to the micelle. In this experiment, trimethylammonium chloride was used as the cation and naphthalene as the anion. The fluorescence intensity decreased with increasing concentrations of trimethylammonium chloride. The results were consistent with those obtained using sodium cholate and undecanoic acid, which confirmed that hydrophobic interactions were responsible for decreasing fluorescence intensity.
