Product Information
6-(Bromomethyl)pteridine-2,4-diamine (6-BMPD) is a potent inhibitor of the enzyme, benzyl esterase. It acts by alkylating the active site cysteine with bromide ion to form an irreversible covalent bond. 6-BMPD has been shown to inhibit cell growth in murine leukemia and other cancers. 6-BMPD inhibits the transport of molecules across cell membranes, preventing their entry into cells and affecting their function. It is also known to inhibit glutamate decarboxylase activity in vitro. 6-BMPD binds to benzyl esters through its bromide ion and inhibiting them from functioning properly in cancer cells.
