Methyl 2,2-dimethyl-4,6-dioxocyclohexane-1-carboxylate is a compound that belongs to the class of heterocyclic compounds. It has optical properties and is nonlinear. Methyl 2,2-dimethyl-4,6-dioxocyclohexane-1-carboxylate can be used as an intermediate for the production of various other chemicals such as 2-(Naphthyl)aminoethanol, paraformaldehyde and spirocyclic compounds. The condensation of methyl 2,2-dimethyl-4,6 -dioxocyclohexane -1 -carboxylate with formaldehyde gives paraformaldehyde and dimedone.
