This drug also has protonation properties that allow it to react with other molecules, such as hydrogen peroxide to form hydrogen peroxide and 2-chloro-5-methoxybenzenesulfonic acid. The sulfonic acid then reacts with catalytic metals to form hydrogen gas and water, which are products of this reaction.
