4-(5-Amino-[1,3,4]thiadiazol-2-yl)-phenol is a fluorescent probe that has been shown to be active against the transcription-polymerase chain of various plant viruses. It is also capable of inhibiting the replication of human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) and murine leukemia virus (MLV). 4-(5-Amino-[1,3,4]thiadiazol-2-yl)-phenol has been used to detect signal in living cells and tissues by fluorescence microscopy. This probe can also be used to detect protein ubiquitination and proteasomal degradation in a variety of organisms, including humans and mice.
