Product Information
7-Chloro-2-methylquinoline-4-carboxylic acid is a chloroquine derivative that contains a quinoline ring. It inhibits the growth of plasmodium falciparum and other parasites by inhibiting nucleic acid synthesis and protein synthesis. 7-Chloro-2-methylquinoline-4-carboxylic acid has been shown to be effective against drug resistant strains of malaria and has also been shown to reduce gametocyte production in mice infected with malaria. This drug is not active against erythrocytic stages of the parasite, but may be useful for prophylaxis or treatment of infections caused by non erythrocytic forms.
