Product Information
Quinoline is a heterocyclic aromatic organic compound. It is a colorless, water-soluble liquid that is used in the manufacture of dyes, pharmaceuticals, and other chemicals. Quinoline can be synthesized from bromoquinoline by means of bromination or dehydrogenation reactions. A variety of reagents are used for this purpose such as hydrobromic acid, phosphoric acid or sulfuric acid. The reducing agent can be hydrogen gas or metallic iron powder. The synthesis method for quinoline involves the reaction of nitrobenzene with potassium hydroxide in the presence of hydrochloric acid to yield a mixture of quinolinium chlorides, followed by reduction to quinoline.
