Product Information
- 2-Pyridinemethanamine,monohydrochloride (9CI)
- (2-Pyridinylmethyl)amine hydrochloride
C-Pyridin-2-yl-methylamine hydrochloride is a ligand that binds with high affinity to the active site of thrombin. It inhibits the activity of thrombin by binding to the enzyme and blocking its active site. C-Pyridin-2-yl-methylamine hydrochloride has been shown to inhibit coagulation by competing with thrombin for binding sites on fibrinogen, thereby preventing it from converting fibrinogen into fibrin. This drug also inhibits the activity of other enzymes involved in blood clotting, such as factor XIIa, factor XIa, and prothrombinase. The covalent nature of this compound allows for a high yield in preparation and purification. This drug is available as a white powder that can be dissolved in water or ethanol to make an oral solution.
