Ethyl 5-methyl-8-nitro-6-oxo-5,6-dihydro-4H-benzo-[f]imidazo[1,5-a][1,4]diazepine-3-carboxylate is a drug that has been shown to be effective in treating epileptic seizures. This compound binds to the benzodiazepine receptor and activates it by increasing the concentration of gamma aminobutyric acid (GABA) in the brain. The activity of this drug has been studied in both human and animal studies. It is a radiolabeled compound that has been used as an unlabeled ligand for positron emission tomography (PET).
