4-Chloro-5-fluoroindoline-2,3-dione is a synthetic antibacterial agent with significant activity against gram-negative bacteria and some activity against gram-positive bacteria. It was found to be active against a number of bacterial strains including Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium, Helicobacter pylori, and Staphylococcus aureus. 4-Chloro-5-fluoroindoline-2,3-dione has substituents that affect its lipophilicity and its antibacterial properties. The chlorine group increases the lipophilicity of the molecule while the fluorine atom increases its antibacterial activities.
