1,3-Dibromo-5-methyl-2-(phenylmethoxy)-benzene is a dimeric molecule that has a bromine atom on one of the benzene rings. This compound has two hydrogen atoms on one of the benzene rings and three hydrogen atoms on the other ring, with one hydrogen atom on each of the phenyl groups. The molecule is symmetrical with respect to rotation about its axis. The compound is soluble in ethanol and refluxing ethanol. The crystal structure is monoclinic, space group P2/c, with unit cell dimensions a=6.071 Å, b=6.071 Å, c=8.738 Å and β=105°. There are two possible orientations for the molecule in this crystal structure: (1) where both phenyl groups are eclipsed by the benzene rings; or (2) where they are not eclipsed by any benzene
