Product Information
- Benzoic acid, 5-cyano-2-hydroxy-, methyl ester
- 5-Cyano-2-Hydroxy-Benzoic Acid Methyl Ester
Methyl 5-cyano-2-hydroxybenzoate is a potent inhibitor of proteases, including kallikrein, trypsin, and chymotrypsin. It has been shown to inhibit the activities of these proteases at concentrations of 0.1 mM. Methyl 5-cyano-2-hydroxybenzoate inhibits the activity of plasmin, an enzyme that degrades fibrinogen and other proteins in blood plasma. This compound also inhibits thrombin at concentrations of 1 mM and hemolysis induced by esters at concentrations of 10 mM. Methyl 5-cyano-2-hydroxybenzoate is not active against benzoyl or trypsin inhibitors.
