2-Hydroxy-1-pyrrolidinecarboxylic Acid 1,1-Dimethylethyl Ester is an enantiomerically pure compound that can be used in the synthesis of martinelline. It is a chiral molecule with a diastereomeric relationship between the two enantiomers. The 2-hydroxy form is present as an aldehyde and the 1-pyrrolidinium form is present as a β-unsaturated carboxylic acid.
2-Hydroxy-1-pyrrolidinecarboxylic Acid 1,1-Dimethylethyl Ester has been shown to have asymmetric properties in its synthesis by reacting with an aldehyde. This reaction produces one enantiomer at high yield and purity while the other enantiomer is produced in low yield and purity.
