Description:
Gemfibrozil Impurity 2 is a hydrophobic compound that is used as an analog of trans-stilbene. It is a ligand for PPARα, which is the receptor for a number of natural and synthetic compounds. Gemfibrozil Impurity 2 has been shown to activate this receptor, leading to inhibition of lipolysis in adipocytes. This compound has also been shown to be bioisosteric with many other compounds, such as substituents in heteroaromatic rings.
