Product Information
MRT-83 hydrochloride is a cell permeable and highly selective small molecule that mimics the effects of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine on the receptor. It is a potent activator of nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs) in vitro and in vivo, with high selectivity for nAChRs in cortical neurons. MRT-83 hydrochloride is an inhibitor of potassium channels, which are involved in neuronal excitability. It also inhibits L-type voltage-gated calcium channels, which are involved in synaptic transmission and plasticity. MRT-83 hydrochloride has been used to study protein interactions between ligand and receptor as well as to explore their role in pharmacology and physiology.
