Product Information
Ethyl 2-oxobicyclo[3.1.0]hexane-6-carboxylate is a ligand with high affinity for metabotropic glutamate receptors, which are a family of G protein coupled receptors. Ethyl 2-oxobicyclo[3.1.0]hexane-6-carboxylate binds to the receptor and activates it by increasing the calcium ion concentration within the cell, ultimately leading to changes in neural transmission and neurotransmitter release. This drug has been shown to be orally active and has been used as an experimental treatment for hyperactivity disorders due to its ability to increase extracellular dopamine levels in the brain. Ethyl 2-oxobicyclo[3.1.0]hexane-6-carboxylate also binds to other types of metabotropic glutamate receptors, such as mGlu2 and mGlu5, but not mGlu4 or mGlu7 receptors.
