3,4-Dihydro-2H-spiro[naphthalene-1,4'-piperidine] is a ligand of the ethylene receptor. It is a semirigid compound that binds to the receptor with high affinity and selectivity. 3,4-Dihydro-2H-spiro[naphthalene-1,4'-piperidine] has an inhibitory effect on the release of acetylcholine from synaptic vesicles. This compound also binds to the nACh receptor in the central nervous system and exhibits potent presynaptic effects. 3,4-Dihydro-2H-spiro[naphthalene-1,4'-piperidine] has been shown to have anticonvulsant activity in animal models.
