- N-(tert-Butoxycarbonyl)-4-iodoaniline
Tert-Butyl 4-iodophenylcarbamate is a carbenes that can be synthesized from the reaction of trimethyltin chloride with iodoethane. The compound has been shown to have antibacterial activity against gram positive bacteria, including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pneumoniae. Tert-Butyl 4-iodophenylcarbamate binds to the termini of DNA strands, which prevents DNA replication and transcription. This compound also has hydrophobic properties and can be used as a synthetic organic reagent for the preparation of other organic compounds.
