Product Information
2-Chloro-1-methyl-1H-indole-3-carbonitrile (2CIMIC) is a synthetic chemical that is used as a precursor in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals. The compound is a halogenated aromatic nitrile, which can be prepared by the thermal decomposition of 2,5-dichloro-1H-indole with carbon tetrachloride and hydrogen chloride. 2CIMIC has been shown to react with phenylalanine or an aryl halide in the presence of sodium methoxide to produce alpha amino acids. This reaction is catalyzed by microwave irradiation and can be used for the synthesis of pharmaceutically relevant compounds.
