Product Information
This compound is an iron oxide and copper complex that is a solid catalyst for the reaction of organic acids. It is used in the production of citric, carbonic, and sodium succinate acids. The reactants are added to the catalyst in a 1:1 ratio and at a temperature of 100-150 degrees Celsius. The rate of reaction can be increased by adding sodium succinate or pyridoxine hydrochloride. This compound reacts with carbon dioxide to form bicarbonates and hydrogen ions, which react with sodium salts to produce hydrochloric acid. The activation energy for this chemical process is 19.0 kcal/mol. Hydrochloric acid is also produced as a byproduct during this reaction.
