6-Bromopyridin-2-yl)(phenyl)methanol is a bioinorganic compound that contains a cyanuric moiety. It is synthesized using cryogenic methodologies and has been shown to be reactive with transition metal ions, such as nickel and copper. 6-Bromopyridin-2-yl)(phenyl)methanol has also been shown to be immobilized on thionyl chloride activated carboxylic acid groups which are hydrophobic in nature. 6-Bromopyridin-2-yl)(phenyl)methanol is used as an endogenous probe for the presence of histidine residues in protein structures, as well as for the determination of metal ion binding sites on proteins.
6-Bromopyridin-2-yl)(phenyl)methanol has also been used to study the reactivity of chloride ions with synthetic organic molecules.
