Description:
2-(4-Butylphenyl)pyridine (BPY) is a cytotoxic agent that binds to the active site of protein synthesis. BPY inhibits cell growth and induces apoptosis in human ovarian cancer cells. It has also been shown to bind to endoplasmic reticulum (ER) membranes and stabilize them, which prevents the unfolded protein response. BPY inhibits the production of energy by inhibiting the activation of ATPase, which contributes to its cytotoxic effect.
