Product Information

Name:
2-(Phenylsulfonyl)-1H-indole
Description:

2-(Phenylsulfonyl)-1H-indole is a synthetic compound that has been shown to be effective against HIV. It is an inhibitor of the HIV protease and prevents the cleavage of viral proteins, which prevents the formation of new virus particles. 2-(Phenylsulfonyl)-1H-indole also inhibits the growth factor receptor and blocks epidermal growth factor (EGF) activity in vitro. This agent is not active against other viruses, such as herpes simplex virus or influenza virus, and has no cytotoxic effects on uninfected cells in culture. 2-(Phenylsulfonyl)-1H-indole has been shown to be effective in treating diabetic neuropathy by stimulating nerve regeneration and increasing the number of axons that grow into a lesion site.
