Ferric phosphate is a ferric salt that is formed by the reaction of sodium carbonate and ethylene diamine. It is used as a coagulant in wastewater treatment, where it binds to suspended solids and aids in settling out particles. Ferric phosphate also has the ability to adsorb heavy metal ions from solution. The rate of this process depends on the type of metal ion and pH of the solution. Ferric phosphate can be formed by the reaction between an inorganic acid and a hydrochloric acid, or by adding copper chloride to a lithium salt solution.
