Product Information
Monomethylsulochrin is a chemical compound that belongs to the group of diphenyl ethers. It has been shown to induce apoptosis by activating the caspase-dependent mitochondrial pathway and inhibiting cellular proliferation due to its effect on the cell cycle. Monomethylsulochrin also induces necrotic cell death by damaging the mitochondria, causing a loss of mitochondrial membrane potential, and releasing cytochrome c from the mitochondria. Monomethylsulochrin has been found in Aspergillus species, endophytes, and fungi that colonize plants. The chemical diversity of monomethylsulochrin may be due to intramolecular hydrogen bonding or alkyl side chains that can form different isomers with different biological activities. Monomethylsulochrin has been shown to have an oxidative injury in human liver cells and can act as an endophyte by inducing apoptosis.
