Lanthanum sulfate is a solid particle with a particle size of less than 1 micron. It has been used in the manufacture of certain types of glass and porcelain, as well as in the production of high-temperature ceramics. Lanthanum sulfate is also used to treat hyperkalemia, which is a condition characterized by high levels of potassium in the blood. Lanthanum sulfate binds to potassium ions and prevents them from entering cells, thereby reducing their concentration in the blood. This drug is not absorbed through skin and does not irritate mucous membranes. Lanthanum sulfate is chemically stable and does not react with many other chemicals or reactants.
